Boon Boona Coffee is a Black-owned coffee roaster out of Renton, WA. We are reaching out to folks with all kinds of coffee experience, gender orientations, backgrounds, and body types. We are hiring a Production and Roasting Assistant. Boon Boona Coffee began its journey 9 years ago by procuring quality African green coffee for the East African community. In January 2019, we opened our brick & mortar roastery/café in Renton. Position's basic responsibilities:
- Track and process incoming orders to start the daily production
- Carry out production roasts according to the predetermined profiles
- Fulfill individual and wholesale orders in an efficient & timely manner
- Prepare shipping labels ensuring accuracy of customer and delivery order information
- Prepare retail coffee bags for fulfillment
- Support Wholesale Account Representative to ensure the timely fulfillment of wholesale orders
- Communicate daily coffee order updates to the Lead Roaster to adjust daily flow and production
- Ensure timely delivery of customer orders
- Consistently look for ways to improve the production process for the most efficient and cost-effective fulfillment approach
- Attend weekly sensory analysis (coffee sensory evaluation) practices at the roastery
Requirements and physical components of the position:
- An open-minded and empathetic personality with cooperative and self-disciplined work ethic
- Strong interest in coffee and in professional growth to expand understanding of coffee
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail to ensure that customers and order information is accurate and up to date
- Efficient time management to prioritize tasks to guarantee production is running at the most efficient rate
- Speed - crucial that this person be able to get the job done timely delivering product to customer as quickly and efficiently as possible
- Literacy in MS Excel, Word, and email applications
- Previous roasting and sensory analysis experience is preferable but not a must
- Creativity in coming up with streamlining the production and fulfillment process
- Standing for extended periods of time and stooping frequently
- Repetitive motions for extended periods of time
- Often lifting to 40 lbs and occasionally dragging green coffee burlap bags (up to 130 lbs)
Compensation & perks:
- Starting pay rate is $21.50-$23.00/hr
