THE COFFEE

We are thrilled to have a peachy and complex coffee that gives back to its prodcer community. Habtamu translates to richness and Aaga Dinsa, the owner, is proud to share the richness of the coffee with the producers by transferring 5% of the profits to the local farmers' fund.

THE PEOPLE

We connected with Aaga Dinsa, owner of Habtamu, at an Crop to Cup event during the SCA Expo. Aaga Dinsa meticulous approach to coffee processing is impressive and has proved to produce a delicous coffee. The farm he inherited from his grandfather continues to serve as the center of the export operation with 105 hectares of planting in Kuri Kebele, and 837 hectares total including the farms of the 144 registered outgrowers that contribute cherry to the washing stations in Wolega, Guji and Jimma Ethiopia.

THE IMPACT

Aaga Dinsa impressed us not only with the quality of his coffee but also with his approach to the coffee trade and his care for his team and community. The company holds Organic certification, and Fair for Life certification. Through Fair for Life, Habtamu Fekadu contributes $0.12 per pound of exports. Additionally, Aaga contributes 5% of company profits to a development fund that reinvests in the community through food, clothing, schooling, roads, and facilities and equipment for healthcare.
